It’s been a while since we did a little Corona Virus update. These updates are completely Disney Parks themed. We already shared some Corona updates in February and March this year but, we thought let’s share another one since, it still isn’t over yet and a lot has happend since the beginning of this year.
If you want to read the other two updates we’ve done, click here! Update 1 and update 2.
Shanghai Disneyland was the first park to feel the impact of Covid-19 and had to close it’s doors on January 25th 2020, on March 9th they opened the Disneyland Hotel, Disneytown and Wishing Star Park again and on the 11th of May Shanghai Disneyland reopened the entire park for guests! This was a closure of 106 days, which is so long! This was also the first park to made a lot of safety measures which, most of them we would see spreading out on all of the other Disney parks around the world.
Back then we share a whole blogpost about the reopening, click here.
The second park too close was Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. The park closed on January 26th and reopened on June 18th 2020. After nearly a month the park had to close again and reopen its doors again on, September 25th, 2020. The park was closed for a total of 214 days..
Back then we shared a whole blogpost about the parks first reopening: click here.
Not a whole lot later, the last Asian Disney park, had to close it’s doors which, w as such a sad moment for every one. On February 29th, 2020, Tokyo Disneyland Resort cloys but, also shared immediately that they would reopen two weeks later on April 15th. But soon the dates where adjusted and Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea reopened on July 1st ,2020. This park closed for 123 days in total.
So then all of the Asian pars where closed and Covid-19 slowly spread around Europe and America and everyone was waiting for the bad news but, the news didn’t come for a long time. The parks implemented a lot of new safety measures for their employees and guests. But then om March 13th, 2020, they announced that Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort and Disneyland Paris would be closing the next day on March 14th. That meant that all the Disney parks, work wide, would be closed. This was devastating thought for all the Disney fans.
Walt Disney world closed from March 14th and starting opening some of the parks on July 11th. On July 11th ,magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom reopened and Epcot and the Studios park opened 4 days later on July 15th, 2020. The parks closed for 120 days until the Kingdoms reopened.
After Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris was the next park to reopen. Disneyland Paris also closed on March 14th and reopened on July 15th, 2020. This park also made sure to add some safety measures but also made a fun reopening theme song, click here to listen. Even though Disneyland Paris has been reopened it is still struggling since the majority of their guests come from different countries in Europe and a lot of countries in Europe aren’t allowed in France right now. Disneyland Paris closed for 124 days. But on October 29th Disneyland Paris had too close again until December 19th. From December 19th untilJanuary 4th Disneyland Paris will be opening again for a couple of days to reopen again on February 12th.
And then the last but definitely not last Disney park in the world, the one and only original park, Disneyland Resort. This park also closed on March 14th, like the other two Disney parks. But while the other parks all have been reopened Disneyland Resort, still hasn’t seen guests since and is still struggling to find a date to reopen. We really hope to see this special park reopening soon!
We hope to give you a little bit of information about the closure of the parks, as we said earlier. We really hope to see the Disneyland Resort reopening soon and let the magic spread across the whole wide world!
Have a magical week!
