Coronavirus update | Disney Parks

We usually try to share only positive news and Disney related thing, but this virus takes up a huge amount of news these days. We already tried to cover quite some Coronavirus themed news at our weekly news updates, but this update will be a bit more comprehensively.

Hong Kong Disneyland

  • Earlier this year Hong Kong Disneyland made some safety measures once the Coronavirus started spreading like, not using face characters anymore for the safety of guests and cast members.
  • That same week the spreading went really quick and the park had to close at the end of January.
  • The parks closed without letting people know a opening date and there is still no answer to when this park is reopening again.
  • Hong Kong’s Disneyland is letting the city use its sites to quarantine people.
  • The government wants to build quarantine units on a vacant site that the resort had planned on using for an expansion.
  • We are still waiting on a opening date.

Shanghai Disneyland Resort

  • Shanghai Disneyland Resort was the first Disney park to close due to the spreading of the virus.
  • So far there hasn’t been a reopening date released for the park.
  • On March 9th Shanghai opened the Disneyland Hotel, Disneytown and Wishing Star Park.

Tokyo Disneyland Resort

  • Tokyo Disneyland was the last Asian park to close it’s doors and also immediately shared a reopening date.
  • The park was going to reopen on March 15th, but this week they had to delay the opening date to at least early April.
  • The new Beauty and the Beast expansion grand opening will be delayed until may.
  • This also means that fans will miss the Very Minnie Season and the last Fantasmic!

Disneyland Paris

  • Last week they started implementing a couple of measurements like, adding hand sanitizing points in the park.
  • This week they stopped using face characters for meet and greets and decided to add a princess float parade for guests to be able to see their beloved princesses.
  • On Thursday they canceled all the parades and firework shows.
  • Single Rider queues closed – Attraction A/C pulling outside air – Disposable cutlery at buffets – Additional cleaning of stollers – Billy Bob’s dance floor closed.
  • First Cast Member detected with Coronavirus.
  • Annual Pass Holders event canceled.

Walt Disney World

  • Hand wash and hand sanitizing stations are placed around Walt Disney World.
  • Cast Members have to sanitize the MagicBand touch points and finger scanners between every guest.

Disneyland Resort

  • The hand sanitizing stations are also added in Downtown Disney.
  • This is what the Disneyland Resort states.

As you can tell Disney is doing a lot of things to try to keep their guests and Cast Members healthy. We are really curious to see what will happen in the near future.

Hopefully this virus will disappear quickly and the parks go back to operating in a normal term.
