In The Netherlands and in some other European country’s there is a magazine called “The Donald Duck” which include comics about Donald and his friends. This magazine has been around in The Netherlands for 67 years already.
But a couple of weeks ago this magazine was all over the internet and on the news because, “The Donald Duck” will include a LGTB couple in the background of one of the drawings in a cartoon.
A 10 year old Dutch girl wrote a Dutch tv show, where children can explain their problems to the presenters and together they try to solve them in the show .
She wrote the TV show that, she looked in all the Donald Duck magazines and never saw a Gay or Lesbian couple in one of the comics. She thinks it would help to accept the LGTB- community if they did include a lesbian or gay couple on the cartoon.
This girl had a mother and father and when she was born they split up and both got in a LGTB relationship. She thinks it is very normal and accepted, but in Duckstad ( Duckburg ) it is like LGTB doesn’t exist and she wants to see some changes. She doesn’t want Donald or the other main characters to become Gay, but she like to see a LGTB-couple in the background once in a while.
With the presenter of this TV show, they spoke to the editorial of the Donald Duck. The editorial of the magazine listened to the quest of the little girl and agreed. She promised that there will be a lesbian couple in the background of a soon to be published edition.
