You can find the “Swap your bow” ears in the stores for a while now, but I wanted to test the ears good and see what would happen to them before I would give my opinion on these ears.
Pricing.
You have to buy the “starters set” first, a regular headband with a black and silver shiny bow. These ears costs 21,99€ at Disneyland Paris. I personally bought them at the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World for $21,99.
Then the actual fun begins. because this bow is not stuck to the ears like all the other headbands you can find at the parks. This bow has a huge clip at the back so you can take it off. At first you might think the headband is just a regular headband, but at the top you can see some holes, where you can put the clip through.
Then it is time to shop and find your favorite themed bows. You buy the bows separate and they costs 13,99€. Which at first I thought was really pricey, but when I took a closer look and felt the materials, I changed my mind. The bows are really big, sturdy and made of good quality of materials. Plus you don’t only have to wear the bows at the ears, but you can also wear them just in your hair, if you don’t want to wear ears, but want just a little Disney Magic.
When I bought my ears there was a pretty good deal, you had to buy the “starer set” and one bow and you got one bow for free. It was really hard to pick the bows I wanted, because I liked them all and back then you couldn’t buy this at Disneyland Paris. After a long time of thinking I bought the Monster Inc. themed bow and the It’s A Small World bow.
Popularity.
When I walk through Disneyland Paris I don’t see a lot of these ears. You might see a real Disney fan wearing them. I think Disney made a very good choice of adding these ears to the parks, but they are a bit to expensive for the regal public which don’t come very often and just wear them for 1 or 2 days. As a Disney fan and Annual Pass holder for Disneyland Paris I go to Disney very often and like to wear multiple Disney inspired outfits and these bows can add just that bit of extra which I really like.
For a really long time they didn’t add new bows to the stores, which was a bit of a pity. I personally thought this would be the new way they sold ears. But the last time we went to Disneyland Paris (april 2019) there where new bows available and I was over the moon.
My Conclusion.
First of all I really like the idea of these headbands, you can actually personalize your Ears. You can place the bow in different ways on the ears, wear any bow you like and baby put your name or pins on the ears itself. I personally like to wear the bow a little bit to the left.
The other thing I really like is the way they would use less materials to make new ears and you can save some money and space, because you don’t have to buy the entire headband again but just the bow.
But the bows are really big and made out of good materials, which makes the bow really heavy. Some bows are so big, they don’t really fit between the ears and your head. So even though it looks really cute it isn’t very comfortable and that is one of the most important things in my opinion. But the headband itself is super comfortable and is very soft, so you can wear them easily for an entire park day.
I am really happy with my ears and the bows I choose, but I am not wearing the ears as much as I had hoped I would. I always bring these ears and all the bows, but if I choose to wear this headband I usually wear it with the black and silver bow because it isn’t as big and heavy as the other bows I own. But because that bow is kinda boring, I usually end up wearing other ears instead, which is a pity. But like I mentioned before, on our last Disneyland Paris trip they added some new bowes and they felt a lot lighter and weren’t as big as the older ones. So I hope ones I get one of the new bows, I will wear my ears more often.
