Disney touches at our wedding

We obviously are huge Disney fans, so Pelle had to propose in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Paris and we had to add some Disney touches to our wedding.

We didn’t want a Disney inspired wedding or a Disney themed wedding. We didn’t want a theme at all, but we really wanted to have some small details that reference to our love for Disney.

So it all started with finding our location, that had to be something magical. We found a beautiful place in Pelle’s hometown which made us both fell in love and reminded us a little of Beauty and the Beast.

After the locations where picked, it was time to have a look at decorations and that’s where the fun began. We wanted our wedding on the cheaper side, so we order quite a lot of stuff from Aliexpress, Primark and also made a lot of things ourselves.

We bought the balloons for the decoration at our second location from Aliexpress. Just plain and simple balloons, with some Mickeys. But you had to take a closer look at them, because they didn’t caught your eye.

We also bought a Mickey shaped lamp from Primark and placed it on a table with our cake and the guestbook. Just to add a bit of light and a Disney touch.

The thing that took us most time to make where the centerpieces, we ordered a lot of fake flowers and bought some balls, and a base. We had to glue every single flower into the balls. We made three of these centerpieces and people just couldn’t believe we made it ourselves. We still have one of the centerpieces standing in our living room today.

All our quest got a little pin and a little heart shaped bubble blower once they entered. We bought all those little pins from Aliexpress, just like the bubble blowers. We bought the soap from a Dutch site called Marktplaats, where people sell used items or things they don’t longer need. So we filled the bubble blowers with the soap, wrote the quote “Be our Guest” on a little piece of cardboard and put it tighter with a piece of rope. This was a really easy thing to do and our guests really enjoyed the gesture and all our guests wore a Disney character. We also put the pins Lisanne’s bouquet, since she didn’t wore a pin herself.

We ordered a cake from a small company and just wanted a small drip cake with a beautiful decoration piece on top. As a surprise they also added some subtle glitter to it, which made it look like pixie dust.

But the fun part where the cupcakes which we ordered for all of our guests. We choose two different flavors, vanilla and banana. They were just simple cupcake but each cupcake had two Mickey shaped ears, which we absolutely loved.

We both had some Disney inspirations mixed into our outfits.

Disney Lisanne based her make-up on classic Disney princesses and face characters at the parks. Her hair had a hidden rose in it from Beauty and the Beast.

Pelle bought some Mickey shaped cuffs.

So both really subtle and not a lot of guests would have seen these things, but we sure noticed these things right away.

Once we had our ceremony and went to the second locations, the staff at that place noticed our decorations and put some draw Mickey’s all around our welcoming sign. Which made us extra happy and feel really special.

We also had our first dance and practiced the dance on our own with a Youtube video on the I see the light from Rapunzel. That’s a really special song to us and a colleague of Pelle, who is a singer was so nice to sing the song live that day.

We hope to give you a bit of inspiration for your big day or just entertained you with a couple of our wedding details.
