The last time we went to Disneyland Paris, at the end of June 2019, there was a heatwave in Europe and it was extremely hot (36 degrees celsius). A year earlier we went to Walt Disney World in Florida in April and already learned a couple of tips there. So here are our best ways to survive a hot day in a Disney Park.
Bring your own water bottle and refill it with tap water. At all Disney Parks, there are water fountains where you can refill your water bottle, which will save you a lot of money. At Walt Disney World, there are water stands with iced tap water which you can get for free and you can also ask free water at any restaurant or quick service restaurant.
Don’t overpack, you’re probably going to the parks for the entire day and you’ll bring lots of handy things with you to the parks. But remember that you have to carry all that extra weight for the entire day. Also, you have a backpack stuck on your back. Try to bring less stuff with you or if you have to bring a lot use a locker, so your stuff is accessible and you don’t have to carry it throughout a hot day.
Bring sunscreen, this is something you should always bring with you to a Disney park even during Winter time, but especially during the warmer days. Ans remember to use the sunscreen at least every 2 hours.
Sunglasses or a hat, always a good idea to bring at least one of these two items with you to the parks.
Power bank, if you use your phone during your park day for pictures, filming or checking queue’s, remember that your phone’s battery will die a lot faster due to the heat.
Spend a lot of time in the shops, restaurants or at covered rides, this way your body can cool down and that way you won’t overheat that fast.
Have a break between 12 and 3 p.m. around this time the sun is at the highest level. Try to be in your hotel room, watch a show or go sit somewhere where’s an AC or shade. You’ll have much more energy at a later time to do some rides.
We all know that we have to drink plenty of water throughout a warm day, but also make sure to eat enough and make sure to eat something salty.
And a huge plus is now you have the best reason to eat all the ice cream and milkshakes you wanted to try. π
